DOOR SUPERVISOR

This is a 6 day classroom course  – with an additional 8 hours of self study (including a workbook) to be completed before the course begins. All trainees also need to complete a One Day Emergency First Aid course before starting the Door Supervisor Course, making it 7 days in the classroom.

We usually run a First Aid Course the day before a Door Supervisor Course starts. These are nationally recognised courses (Ofqual regulated) with the NUCO awarding body. This ensures acceptance across the UK for all purposes.

It is the most popular and the best course to get employment as it will cover you to work across most areas of the security industry. (Offices, Factories, Warehouses, Corporate, Reception Areas, Shops, Building Sites, Mobile Patrols, Pubs, Clubs etc) This will allow you to get an SIA licence to work as a door supervisor or a security officer.

Candidates must be 18 or over, not have a serious criminal record in the last 5 years and have proof of identity. The SIA website has full information about identity documents and the types of offences that would lead to them refusing a licence.

Candidates must attend the whole course.

The course content is set out by the exam board and SIA. You will be taught Roles and Responsibilities, Behavioural Standards, Equality and Diversity, Civil and Criminal Law, Arrest, Licensing Law, Drugs Awareness, Searching, Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Customer Care, Emergencies, Counter Terrorism, Vulnerable People, Queue Management, Recording Incidents and Communication and Conflict Management.

You will spend one day doing Physical Intervention. This involves physical activity and some risk. To minimise the risk we insist on a strict code of behaviour and limiting practice only to techniques that we teach from an SIA approved programme. Candidates must wear appropriate clothing and footwear for this day. If you have any health concerns please phone or email in advance of the course. You will also be asked to complete a health questionnaire on the course.

As part of the Assessments candidates have to be filmed as evidence for the SIA / Awarding Body. This is not optional and is now a condition of attending all SIA courses anywhere in the UK.

DOOR SUPERVISOR TOP UP TRAINING

To renew a Door Supervisor Licence it is now necessary to attend two training courses well in advance of the licence renewal date. We advise booking and training 6 months in advance.

Course One – Emergency First Aid – One Day

Course Two – Door Supervisor Top Up – Two Day

We run these courses together to make it 3 consecutive days.

The First Aid courses are nationally recognised and accredited courses (Ofqual regulated) with the NUCO awarding body. This ensures acceptance across the UK for all purposes including for the SIA. These are much better than those where the trainer issues their own certificate which will not be accepted by various bodies and employers.

The DS Top Up includes principles of terror threat awareness, principles of using equipment as a door supervisor and the application of physical intervention skills. We do not recommend downgrading your licence to a Security Officer one as it makes you less employable and still involves very similar top up training anyway!

There is also a Self Study Unit to be done before starting the course.
